Mission Statement
The Disaster & Emergency Services mission is
to protect lives and property through the four phases
of emergency management: Preparedness, Response, Mitigation
and Recovery.
Teton County DES is dedicated to:
Saving Lives
Reducing property damage
Protecting the environment
Coordinating the efforts of all response agencies and
departments in preparation for coping with all emergences/disasters
Satisfying the requirements for mitigation, preparedness,
response and recovery programs
Where do I
get a rural address and what does it mean?
The Disaster and Emergency Services Office assigns rural
addresses in Teton County. As part of the enhanced 911
systems, which is being implemented in Teton County, all
roads within the county are to be named. All inhabited
and commercial structures within the county will be given
a physical address. The addresses in Teton County are
based on a grid system with Lanes running North and
South and Roads running East and West. The
address assigned is the number of miles from the base
line to your address to the tenth of a mile. The last
numeral will be EVEN if the structure lies on the West
or South of the the road and will be ODD if the
structure lies on the East or North of the road. For
example: 734 6th lane NE would be in the NE quadrant.
It would be 6 miles east of the Division lane and lie
3 tenths of a mile east of 7th road on the west side of
6th lane
