Teton County Interim ADA Policies - Updated - March 2001
In November of 2000, Teton County entered into a Settlement Agreement with Plaintiffs in the ADA lawsuit. Following are the interim
policies which will be utilized until construction stipulated in the Agreement is completed:
1. In accordance with Resolution 31-92, when notified, Teton County personnel will provide any and all services possible and
available by taking those services outside the courthouse to disabled individuals in their car or at their home.
2. Teton County will make reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities who wish to participate in public meetings.
Meeting locations will be changed to ADA compliant locations when the meeting organizer is contacted at least 24 hours before the
scheduled meeting.
3. ADA compliant locations in Choteau include the USDA Building, Teton Medical Center, and the Stage Stop Inn, and the Choteau
Schools. ADA compliant locations in Fairfield include the Fairfield Schools. In Dutton, ADA compliant locations include the American
Legion and the Dutton School. In Power, the school and the Senior Center are ADA compliant.
4. In all buildings other than the Courthouse, services will be brought to customers upon notification and request.
5. Services for the hearing impaired will be offered through the Teton County Sheriff's Office which has a TDD phone. (466-5781)
6. The "Statement of Policy" regarding Equal Employment Opportunity and Grievance Procedure from the Teton County Personnel Manual
will be followed.
7. District Court Clerk will adhere to the following procedure. When requested, court will be held at an ADA compliant location. If
service is required, District Court personnel will take services outside the courthouse to individuals with disabilities.
